A herd of horses, a troop of monkeys, a flock of birds or a
swarm of bees is different from human societies. Those poor animals and birds
are different from us. They are much less intelligent than us and hence can’t
communicate with each other by using meaningful words as we can. The nature
asked them to live together in herds or flocks; they complied with the nature’s
command and never harmed each other within their groups more than the limit set
by the nature.
We human beings are not very sure which way our societies are
dragging us to. We know only this much that all is not well with us. We created
our societies, maintained them and nurtured them for our benefit. Many amongst
us are not happy; in fact, they are in much trouble. Sometimes we feel too
constrained even to initiate remedial steps as if we are the prisoners of our
societies having no real freedom; and some other times we complain that our
societies are not taking enough care of us.
Have we failed in fulfilling our collective responsibility of
creating and maintaining our societies? Have we failed in communicating with
each other meaningfully and purposefully about the welfare of the mankind?
We know words are only specific collections of some distinct
letters. They are mere tools like pliers or screwdrivers are. They depend on us
to accomplish a piece of job that benefits us.
Have we taken many things for granted, neglecting even the
common knowledge we all possess? Or, we not much interested in taking care of
ourselves or that of our future generations?
