A BOOK THAT SPEAKS DIFFERENTLY

“In Search of our Wonderful Words” is a book that thinks about the human life and man’s connection with the world. The author has guided the discussions throughout in his book, but without imposing his views on the readers. Wherever he has used words of great thinkers, he has used them to initiate some discussions, and not for backing up any arguments or for supporting any of his views.

The book does not teach; it makes one think about himself. The author has succeeded in making the reader think that one cannot think about his own good without thinking about the welfare of others. He logically deduced the concept of the God, and simultaneously, has disapproved the social and economical disparities existing in modern times using the concept of the God; as, in his opinion, such disparities hinder a meaningful growth of human life.
Spirituality and religion, according to the author, begin with humanitarian concern with one’s surroundings; and grow thereafter. The author does not appear to accept the thought of discarding the world for one’s spiritual growth. In fact, he guides the discussions in his book to help his readers raise a question as to whether it was at all possible to grow spiritually without being concerned about the fellow human beings.

The author discusses boldly and unambiguously, but does not appear to give any credit to him for thinking differently; he appears to be expressing, simply and honestly that the things are, perhaps, different from the way we had been thinking about them.

Hardly any books are being written that venture to think fundamentally. Promod Kumar Sharma has done it. Those who think must read this book because they can have a different viewpoint. Those who do not like thinking, must also read it because they would come to know that thinking is a natural process of human life.

I cannot find any flaws in the book, maybe others can. However, if there are some flaws, they are more than compensated by the people behind such a useful book, by making it available at a very reasonable price. “In Search of our Wonderful Words”, indisputably, ranks very high. Going by the conventions it definitely deserves Five Stars.
