THROUGH THE EYES OF A HUMAN BEING

Those who have learned to review their thoughts and conduct constantly are fortunate. They are unlikely to stagnate. However, the important question is whose eyes we use to look at ourselves? If we use others’ eyes, we will mould ourselves to please others. People are normally satisfied if they are surrounded by the objects that please their senses. They normally overlook that what satisfies their senses may not benefit them. Hence, if we look at ourselves with the eyes of others’, we may become a highest common factor to please many, maybe, something like a ‘successful joker’.

Should we, then, look at ourselves with our own eyes? Our eyes also may not be any different from the eyes of the others, except for the fact we individually have only two eyes having a uniform vision at a time, instead of a huge multiplicity of the others’ visions. Hence, if we look at us with our own eyes, we will mould ourselves to please our own senses. But, as we already know, pleasing our senses may not also benefit us.

We must not be selfish. We also cannot get rid of the harmful effect of our selfishness by entering into the shoes of a joker who dances to the tune of many selfish people.

Reviewing one’s thoughts and conduct regularly and constantly is of critical importance. The critical thing is how well one is able to view truth in the things. The simplest and least controversial aspect of the truth is that it must be for the larger benefit of the maximum number of the people. We can say what really benefits the entire humanity is as good as the ‘the truth’.

Through the eyes of a human being, a genuine part and a participant of the entire humanity, we must review our thoughts and conduct regularly and constantly. If we care and are careful, it is not a very tall order.
