When a few people informed many about their
rights, the seeds of democracy were sown. Today, democracy has matured. The
politicians of opposition parties remind the leaders of the ruling party of
their duties, and, the people of their (the people’s) rights. The ruling parties remind the people how the
opposition parties during their rule neglected the rights of the people and
failed to perform their own duties, and make promises to rectify the errors of
the opposition parties.
The
people, on their part, keep waiting endlessly for someone, the ruling party or
the opposition, to perform their duties and fulfill their promises.
Does
democracy mean that all, the government, the opposition and the people would only
think of and talk about their own rights and the duties of the others? Is it a
game of making promises and waiting for their fulfillment? Everyone rules over others and none rules over
himself.
