The
scriptures say that the God exists in each particle of the universe and it is
outside them also. The scriptures also talk about the illusory aspect of the
physical existence of the universe. Our problem is that we often visualize
everything on the basis of their external appearance and/or their relationship
with the things that are already known to us. We normally pay scant attention
to the essence of what exists around us.
Further, as human beings, we treat all other things as some
physical being. We do not even exclude God in this respect. Perhaps, the God we
try to know is an eternal ensemble of some attributes and qualities that we
must try to acquire to ‘live’ with eternal bliss and peace. A small particle
created by the God with His extraordinary potency, for our benefit cannot be
neglected by us as an illusory object or worthless things, just because such
particle cannot directly help us in acquiring Godlike qualities. The aforesaid particle
cannot teach us anything or cannot become an example for us; from that point of
view the God does not exist therein. But, we cannot live in this world without
it; that is why the God exists therein.
The matter of utmost concern for us is our physical and
spiritual existence, not the physical and spiritual existence of the God. We
have no option but to accept the God for our physical and spiritual welfare.
Perhaps, our scriptures have tried to explain this, using the words that we can
understand. We are as weak and vulnerable as any other living being is. We have
been granted superior intellect to counter our weakness and vulnerability by improving
ourselves through learning with the experiences of the physical world; and acquiring
and bringing into practice the Godlike qualities to live the way an intelligent
being should live.
