No change occurs abruptly in nature. Maybe, all
changes are abrupt according to the quantum theory, but, as human beings, we
experience and perceive them happening with an extremely slow continuity.
I
have heard about a body builder from an earlier generation who was able to lift
his buffalo above the ground with both his hands. Initially, I did not believe
in this information, but later it appeared to me worth believing when one of
his grandsons told me that the said body builder’s father had trained him by
making his young son lift a newly born calf of the buffalo owned by them and
making his son practice this five times in a day with the same calf till the
calf grew into a full sized buffalo. Perhaps the body builder had learned to
lift the calf and the calf had learned to be lifted by its young master.
What
is practiced is learned and what is avoided is unlearned; that is how the human
body-mind complex works. Having faith that a change would definitely occur if a
piece of knowledge is assiduously practiced adds to the quality of the
practice. The quality of life has nothing to do with the so called Intelligence
Quotient. Any human being can strive for living a life with a good quality if he
becomes aware of what must be learned and what must be unlearned. Further,
practice and the faith in one’s practice makes one learn how to compare him
with himself and not others. Comparing oneself with others is damaging to the
pursuit of excellence.
