Selfishness, Ahamkara (‘I am-ness’, a
word that also means ‘ego’), captivity of desires and lack of simplicity of mind,
conduct and words prompt one to commit errors with no feeling of remorse
thereafter. Such people are shameless about their mistakes and never ever think
of rectifying their errors. They, either try to prove whatever they did was
right, or blame others for their errors.
The
four weaknesses or bad qualities referred above are often found to exist
together in an individual as they are interdependent. It is not advisable to
make much effort to mould such people to make them think and conduct
appropriately; they should be left at the mercy of the God.
However,
if someone has one or two of the shortcomings narrated above, we must try to
serve them by ourselves becoming an example of the right conduct before them.
No one is perfect; we all have many shortcomings and it is our sacred duty to
keep on elevating out thoughts and improving our conduct. We are as important for
the world as we are for ourselves; this, we should never overlook. Many occurrences,
when we fail to influence our immediate surroundings with our well meaning
efforts, should not discourage us; good efforts never go waste if we view
things in their totality.
