One who is not able to keep his mind away from
the welfare of future generations is a visionary. A visionary never overlooks
the errors of the past made by him or the others. He is highly concerned about
the good of the following generations and actions of his own generation. He
knows that only the healthy seeds properly sown today can germinate tomorrow.
A
visionary believes that all thoughts with the best of the intentions behind
them, unless converted into selfless action, are mere intellectual exercises;
and all actions, howsoever well planned and selfless they may be, are worthless
unless they are rigorously practiced to become natural habits. The process of a
germinated seed becoming a tree is long and needs well practiced hands to take
care of them. What is the use of sowing
a seed unless enough care is taken till it is ready to bear fruit?
A
visionary knows that it is not that easy to pass on useful thoughts and actions
from one generation to another, as it is to pass on the right practices from
generations to generations. If the right practices are passed on to the generation next, it will ensure that the trees ready to bear the fruits fructify.
Man’s
life is an opportunity for thinking rightly, converting right thoughts into
right actions, and, then, rigorously practicing one’s right actions for delivering the fruits of one’s efforts to the life beyond his life. The fear that the one
who works selflessly for the future of the mankind would go hungry today is
unfounded. The one who thinks and acts rightly never dies of hunger. This law
of the Divine has proven itself many times.
No
doubt, our ancestors were great visionaries. As compared to them, we, at best,
think and work for the next day and consider our shortsightedness as our vision.
Perhaps, the remedy of our shortsightedness lies in our great scriptures, which
we rarely try to study and contemplate over.
