Man can continue conducting in a stereotyped
manner depending on the habit he has formed. He cannot avoid using his
intellect for satisfying his desires. He, therefore, acts as a perpetual
machine for changing his circumstances. Changed circumstances necessitate
changes in the ways the man conducts. He has to change his habits.
There
are two ways he can change his habits; reactive and proactive. He can change
himself reacting to the changed circumstance or he can decide to be proactive
in the matter of changing himself. When he decides to be proactive he has to
review his circumstances and his habits. While doing it, he may have to go
deeper into the causes that lead to change in his circumstances and also the
circumstances that have been created, to know if they are to his benefit at all.
It
becomes a kind of appraisal of one’s own past performance. It also gives an
opportunity to rectify the mistakes of the past and to tread on the right path.
When one is habitual of something he, usually, does not think; therefore, one
must try to be proactive in his efforts in changing his habits, at least, when
he is forced to change his habits.
