It is generally believed that once born as a
human being, we must try our best to know what is there to be known about the
life. Our life’s journey actually commences when the process of knowing the
truth in life begins. The process of knowing the truth in life actually
commences when we begin to think, making use of our intellect.
It
is also believed that the quest of knowledge never ends, but continues forever,
at least till we are alive. We know that the man never stops thinking; he goes
on, sometimes, coming to know, through self-observation, whenever the process
of his thinking, including deep contemplation and introspection, has struck a
new level of maturity. Then, a moment may also come, though rarely, when he
realizes that his intellect, in fact, has become a serious limitation in
internalizing all the knowledge he could acquire till the time of such
realization.
Perhaps,
human intellect is the most easily usable and pliable tool available to us in
quest of the knowledge of the truth, which has to be discarded ruthlessly when
it has served its purpose. Many affinities for one’s matured intellect may not
cause a fall, but it may make a man wander aimlessly, from here to there, the
purpose of his life having been long forgotten. Once the human intellect allies
with the human ego, the human being is pitted against the most formidable army
that has to be conquered, to permit the man take his next move in the right
direction. That is the reason why simplicity of the mind, deeds and words, and,
humility are qualities much needed to be acquired, if one decides to know what
must be known.
