We erroneously view ourselves as the lords of
this universe. No doubt, we can respond to different stimulants in many more
ways than other living beings; and on account of this, we assume ourselves to
be many times more intelligent than others; but, how far such extra- special
ability does helps us or the universe, if it is of any use at all, is not
exactly known.
Extremely
few of the human beings think about the ways of life. But, even those few,
mostly think about the human life, generally excluding a vast majority of the
human population that hardly has any say in the affairs of the world, often
excluding even the women. Obviously, all living being other than the human
beings and also the non-living things existing in this universe are never
considered when the matters related to life are pondered over.
The
human life has to be more appropriately viewed in the universal context with
all that is animate or inanimate; and not merely the world, which is a product
of human desires, intellect and emotions. The world created by man will go on
changing thereby influencing him differently with changing times. The ancient
scriptures contain precious knowledge in this respect, but we have failed to
develop that knowledge according to time, space and circumstances. The growth of
that knowledge is a matter of greater priority than the knowledge that is being
presently considered essential for the man’s physical progress. All the human
efforts that are being made without the right understanding of human life are
fraught with much risk and danger. There has to be a spiritual process, cutting
through the traditionally religious, sluggishly changing socio-political and ever
modernizing educational lines to reduce fast settling meaninglessness and superfluity
in human life.
