Why is it that we are always excessively busy
with infinitely many thoughtless activities throughout our lives; but, are shy
of even the simplest of the thoughtful actions when there is a crucial need of
them? Perhaps, it is because that we are always taught that the world we live
in has been created for our use, and, are never made to realize that it is we
who are born to contribute our bit for the good of the world we live in.
It
is because of the inadequate and faulty perception about our lives in this
world that we are always busy in reacting to the situations, time and
activities of the others that we are pitted against, instead of contemplating
over our own thoughts and actions, which actually decide what all we can
possibly gather from our lives.
The
scriptures do not exclude anything that we need. ‘Dharma’, (which include
dutiful compassion, truthfulness, honesty, courage and patience) and, ‘Selflessness’,
(which include humility, gratitude, detachment, simplicity and absence of pride)
teach us enough about how we must live in this world, at least, to begin with.
To learn more and to internalize what has already been learned, we may submit
ourselves to restrained indulgence with the simple processes of life according
to the laws of nature to gather what is meaningful for us and useful for the
world.
