Shruayatam Dharma sarwaswam shrutva chapyavadhrayatam,
Aatmanah pratikoolani pareshan na samacharet.
[ Listen to what Dharma is and what is its essence and after listening to it conduct accordingly. Do not do any such acts directed to others which you find unbearable for yourself and which cause you pain.]
******************************
Jeevatum Yah swayam chechhetkatham sonyam praghatyet,
Yadyadatmani chechhet tatparsyapi chintayet.
[One who wants to live, how can he think about killing others?
Whatever one wants for himself, he should endeavour to ensure that others also get it.]
*******************************
These ‘shlokas’ were written by Maharshi Vedavyas about whom it is said, ‘ Sarvabhootahite ratah’, that is he was always busy for the well being of others.
In the end there is a prayer for those who wish to conduct themselves according to DHARMA.
Sarve cha sukhinah santu sarve santu niramayah,
Sarve bhadrani pashyantu ma kashchiddukhbhag bhavet.
[All should be happy and contended. All should be healthy.
No one should suffer.]
