If I say that there are people, who are
truthful, courageous, compassionate, sacrificing, selfless, simple, humble, patient,
without greed and pride, and eager to know what must be known etc.; I do not
talk in thin air. I have met such people in the past and have interacted with
them. Even today, there are many who possess such qualities.
If
there are many having such fine qualities, who are known to me, there is every
possibility that a vast population of mankind possessing such qualities can
exist. There is no logic that can establish that what most of us treat as an
ideal cannot be realized.
Further,
I have not met anyone so far who wouldn’t have been pleased to know that he was
believed to be in possession of such qualities by others. This amply proves
that the man does not rubbish such qualities. But, the fact that the modern man
is almost convinced that such qualities do not help him much in his pursuits of
comfortable survival in this world, cannot be overlooked. This implies that perhaps,
such qualities do not suit the modern way of human living. However, we are also
not sure if the modern man is thoroughly convinced that the way he lives in
this world really suits him.
Hence,
we cannot say with sufficient conviction that what looks to be an ideal cannot
be practically adopted in our lives. For all one knows, perhaps, we have not
experimented enough to conclude that we have done the best to suit human life.
In all likelihood, we still have miles to go.
