VAGDEVI SPIRITUAL PROCESS [#16135] THE FIGHT AGAINST THE AVOIDABLE UNTRUTH

We, the living beings destined to die, cannot completely demolish the untruth. Hidden behind this disheartening statement is the purpose of our life; that is, to demolish as much untruth as we can.

Geeta says; act, but, surrender its fruits to the Almighty or the God. Geeta also says; the truth is what does exist, and hence, has the strength to rule; untruth is what does not exist and hence, cannot rule. Gandhi said ‘the truth’ is ‘the God’.

Man is the only living being that can ‘act’, that is, who can indulge in an action after ‘thinking’. However, as the things go, the man, in his bodily form, is an ‘unavoidable untruth’, because his body would vanish someday. Extending the earlier statement we find that the man ‘does exist’ at least for some time, thereby, becoming a truth in himself, at least for some time, provided he acts to demolish the ‘avoidable untruth’ to clear the clouds of apparent untruth that create much confusion about his own existence.

The above stated small philosophical content suggests that we must treat our life a reality, instead of thinking it as an illusion, and dedicate as much of our efforts as possible to destroy the untruth within us and surrounding us. It is not very difficult to realize that the biggest cause of unhappiness in our life is avoidable untruth; like violence, fear, greed, cruelty, absence of compassion and benevolence, hatred, pride, timidity impatience, pretentiousness, discrimination, inequity, and injustice, etc. It is; no doubt, felt that getting rid of these evils is difficult, as they have been firmly settled in our internal and external systems for a considerable length of time. It is also believed that if one tries to fight against such evils he experiences a little imbalance in his life that places physical well-being and material gains for personal comfort at its focus. In other words, we strongly feel that we are not tuned to destroying the avoidable untruth.

The experience of those who have been fairly successful in defeating many evils within them and surrounding them does not agree with the common assumption that the struggle against the avoidable untruth in  not as fulfilling as acting to satisfy one’s materialistic wants and desires. Such people have experienced that the efforts to satisfy one’s desires and wants are always associated with elements of futility and waste, whereas those of struggle against the untruth resemble spiritual battles fought by a spirited fighter. Fight against avoidable untruth, if fought while maintaining a balance between subdued materialistic life and that of an eager explorer of the truth, becomes a reward in itself.

The actions against avoidable untruth automatically get surrendered to the truth; and the truth, as Gandhi had said, is the God. The actions against the avoidable untruth, both internal and external, benefit one’s self as well as one’s surroundings. It cannot be established if such actions benefit one after his death, but, at the same time, the fact that his surroundings are benefited even after his death cannot be doubted.

This is one of the most important elements of ‘Vagdevi Spiritual Process’. Maybe, its intent has been repeated many times in different contexts and in different words earlier and it shall be reiterated again, but, in our opinion, it is worth it.
