Perhaps, we may
feel much contended if most of the human beings are able to achieve a
harmonious relationship among their physical, mental, social, political and economic
existences. But, that kind of life has ever remained a dream for us or an ideal
that had never been practiced, despite huge concessions we have enriched
ourselves with.
This is because we can
communicate our views, our thoughts, our feelings with others, but never our
experiences. When we interact with others in any way, we get to know him with
the help of our experiences, not with the help of his experiences; similarly,
the other person comes to know about us with the help of his experiences, never
with the help of our experiences about which he has no clue. The result is that
even if, many of us, individually, experience fair amount of satisfaction in
our worldly being by taking care of our physical, mental, social, political and
economic existences simultaneously, we just cannot share with each other our experiences
thereof; thereby spoiling all the pleasantness owing to our inability of
sharing our experiences with others.
We have learnt to become too
individualistic to achieve a desired level of empathy with others. We consider
others separate from us, we compete with others, we doubt others, we are
indifferent to others, we are envious of others, we hate others; in a nutshell,
we do not tolerate others. If that is
what we are, how any amount of careful efforts can make us contended with our worldly
life?
It is not possible to experience,
the experiences of others, but it is very much possible to believe that the
experiences of others are not very different from those of our own.
