The most potent and powerful thing is the
truth. We often say that the truth has to be defended against the evil design
of the untruth. This exposes our conceptual error in understanding the happenings
in the life. We are not so great or powerful entities so as to defend the most
powerful thing, ‘the truth’. It is only us that we try to defend against what
is not truth. The animals are not threatened by the falsehood, but humans are.
The quality of courage, therefore, has to be acquired by the human beings, not
by the animals.
The
courage is the tool much needed for self-defense and self-defense only. The
courage involves taking risk. We erroneously think that our physical, mental and
intellectual aspects are at risk when we do such a courageous act. That is not
right. Our physical, mental and intellectual aspects, as such, are always at a
risk even otherwise, courage or no courage.
The
fact is that when we defend ourselves courageously against the untruth, we
defend our spiritual aspects. We must realize that this great knowledge, well
backed up by a coherent conduct, has come to us naturally and traditionally.
A
human life that does not defend itself against the untruth courageously is
devoid of the knowledge that is characteristically associated with it, that is,
the human life. That is ignorance of the highest order.
