Exploring one’s self is many times more difficult
than managing oneself. Managing oneself is much difficult than managing the
world, one is surrounded by. All the three, exploring one’s self, managing
oneself and managing the world, become more and more difficult, the more we surrender ourselves to the world around us.
Not only that, the three actions stated above also become more
indistinguishable, the closer we approach to the world.
The biggest tragedy of the modern life is that we
are not taught and trained to maintain a ‘safe’ distance from the world and to
make, at least, some efforts to look inside ourselves. No doubt, it is neither
possible, nor desired to separate ourselves with the world we live in. The
world is a place where we can realize our ‘selves’, rather dangerously and with
much difficulty, but, we realize it more truthfully and correctly.
We know that we have to leave this world, sooner or
later. Hence, learning to maintain only that much contact with the world as is
necessary has to be our first priority. While learning this, we would
automatically learn how to manage ourselves. Managing ourselves, in fact is,
managing our desires, our mind, our intellect and our ego that cloud our consciousness,
which links our ‘self’ with the universal consciousness.
The best part of this
process is that we begin with the easiest step and gradually move on to the
tougher ones, learning and internalizing the lessons of the life. The thought
and the resolve to realize the aforesaid process of maintaining a ‘safer’
distance from the world, to begin with, then learning to manage ourselves and
finally, to make efforts for realizing our ‘selves’; as and when, come to us, it,
itself, becomes a blessing to us; a blessing for learning the ‘science of life’
(the spirituality), the science that gives the true value to our life.
