Memories of all that had ever hurt our
feelings, we wish to get rid of. However, we are never able to eradicate
completely such memories. They reappear stealthily and depress us even in such
times when they have become much irrelevant and meaningless for us.
But,
there are pleasant memories also that are potentially upsetting and responsible
for causing avoidable chemical imbalances in our glands. When we are unable to
forget and keep on cherishing the memories of the instances of being
instrumental in delivering some benefit to others, we run a great risk of being
much disturbed, if and when, the recipients of the benefits extended by us fail
to reciprocate the good done by us to them, in spite of it being well within
their might.
While
we carry the burden of sad memories of the acts of others that had hurt us in
the past, we also, most willingly, carry the pleasantness of being proud of
having done some good to the others that may be potentially much disappointing
and injurious to the spiritually
elevating qualities of kindness, compassion and selfless service.
