VAGDEVI SPIRITUAL PROCESS [#17220] COMPETENCE

Having enough for one’s survival does not necessarily make him satisfied. Being always doubtful if one’s possessions are actually enough and/or apprehensive of losing what one possesses, often makes one’s life miserable. Such people may become slaves of the negative qualities of greed, avarice, envy, arrogance, timidity, lack of compassion, and narrow-mindedness, etc.

It does not mean that the one who possesses not enough for his survival is free from the negative qualities referred in the last paragraph, barring, perhaps, the suicidal quality of arrogance.

The important thing is that the negative qualities referred above, in no way, help us in achieving, that we do not have, but desire desperately. In fact, such qualities act as serious impediments in settling ourselves in a state of mind that may help us in improving our predicament.

However, if we, with untiring efforts and rigorous practice, acquire the qualities of patience, benevolence, courage, compassion, straight-frowardness, broad-mindedness, simplicity, humility, truthfulness, self-confidence, tenacity, and, absence of arrogance, enmity and cruelty; we may  find ways and means to live a life that is worth living. No doubt, acquiring such qualities is difficult, but, it is not impossible. Further, when we begin to move in this direction, we become more competent in identifying the path that is most suited to us, for successful completion of our life’s journey.
